China sentences Muslim women to 17 years in prison! Her two sons to 10 respectively 7 years for teaching and practising the Muslim faith!

Seylihan Rozi, a 49-year-old Uyghur woman, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison in Xinjiang for teaching Muslim religious verses to her sons and a neighbor. This act was deemed by authorities as “illegal underground religious activities,” according to Radio Free Asia. The sentencing took place in Konasheher county, Kashgar, and is part of a broader crackdown on religious expression in Xinjiang, where Muslim Uyghurs face increasingly severe penalties for practicing their faith.

Rozi, a resident of Saybagh village in Konasheher county, was convicted for providing religious instruction, which is considered illegal under China’s strict regulations on religious education, as stated by a local police officer involved in her case.

Her sons were also penalized, with one receiving a 10-year sentence and the other 7 years for participating in the religious lessons. A neighbor, Yakup Hidayet, who attended the sessions, was sentenced to 9 years in prison.

Critics argue that these measures are an assault on the Uyghur people’s fundamental religious rights, rather than legitimate actions to combat extremism, separatism, or terrorism. The Chinese government’s actions have faced widespread international condemnation, with human rights advocates calling for an end to the repression of Uyghur culture and religion.
